About S.A.L.T. Program

Take your faith to the next level and get a taste of camp from the inside out by applying to be a S.A.L.T.! The three-tiered Servant And Leadership Training program is an intense, hands-on discipleship experience modeled after Jesus’ servant-leader example. Each phase of the program is designed to help you further identify your God-given gifts and then put them to practice in your area of choice. You’ll grow in confidence and skill as you take on more responsibility each year, whether that’s behind-the-scenes of the kitchen, facilities, or grounds, or on the front lines as a role model for younger campers. Evenings will be jam-packed with relevant worship, inspiring speakers, challenging discussions, and epic “S.A.L.T. only” activities with your friends.

Year 1 | Spark

1 week | 10th-12th grades

For an exciting introduction into Servant and Leadership Training, come to Spark and spend one week growing closer to God, making new friends, and experiencing all that camp has to offer! Spark is the perfect balance of discipleship, fellowship, and service. Members gain valuable insight and understanding into what it takes to make camp happen, while simultaneously maturing in their walk with Christ and learning to follow His example of service and leadership.

Year 2 | Ignite

2 weeks | 11th-12th grades | Prerequisite: Spark

Come to Cascades as a part of the Ignite program and be prepared for the best two weeks of your life! Serving as the second tier in our S.A.L.T. program, Ignite provides the opportunity to experience Cascades in an even richer way: participating in servant-leadership in a variety of settings, making deeper connections with peers, and creating memories to last a lifetime. Come ready to let God mold and shape you as you serve and lead!

Year 3 | Ablaze

4 weeks | 12th grades | Prerequisite: Ignite

Come experience an amazing four weeks serving and growing closer to God through Ablaze – the final tier of our S.A.L.T. program! Ablaze S.A.L.T.s have plenty of opportunities to use the service and leadership skills they’ve developed through Spark and Ignite as they help to support Cascades’ programs, dive into their skills and interests, and solidify the connections and mentorship they’ve cultivated at camp. Throughout their time here, Ablaze S.A.L.T.s will be intentionally discipled and challenged to grow in their walk with Christ as they seek to work towards a deeper relationship with the Lord. This program is also a great sampler of what it looks like to work at Cascades, as it provides a small glimpse into the life of a summer staffer.

Application Process

Step 1: Fill out and submit the appropriate application:

• Spark application
• Ignite application
• Ablaze application

Step 2: Have your parent or guardian register online for the appropriate S.A.L.T. program, and pay the $75 deposit (refundable if not accepted).

Step 3: Have a youth pastor, coach, or other mentor fill out the reference form.

You will hear back from us when all forms have been received and reviewed, based upon program capacity and individual qualifications. Priority for all S.A.L.T. programs is given to the most qualified applicants, as space is limited. Cascades reserves the right to select applicants based on qualifications and not order applications were received.
